Tutoring Dyslexia
Pride Learning Center helps students with Dyslexia by using an intensive, sequential and systematic phonics-based program. This Orton-Gillingham reading, writing and spelling program develops and strengthens the student's memory, sequencing and processing rate. Because each lesson is one-to-one, the students with Dyslexia are able to focus on each task introduced and ignore all outside distractions. This system utilizes all of the student's learning modalities visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Each of our teaching sessions are action-oriented and involve constant interaction between the student and teacher. Every Dyslexia Learning Program lesson is reinforced with the student having to listen, speak, read and write. Each student will enhance their memory storage and retrieve the information taught through this intensive multi-sensory instruction. The Pride teacher introduces the elements of the language systematically. The students begin by isolating the reading and writing of sounds, progress to blending the sounds into syllables and words. This is all introduced in an orderly fashion. As each student progresses through the program they continue to review old material to the level of automaticity. The Pride Dyslexia Learning Program works specifically on phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, and working memory.
